Jozsef Koszta (Hungarian, 1861 - 1949) Attributed: Floral Still Life, c. 1920's. Oil on canvas board, signed lower right, framed.
Jozsef Koszta was active and lived in Hungary. Working in the realism school, he focused heavily on images depicting peasant life, utilizing strong tonal colors and emphasizing the interplay of light and shadow. Particularly as his work progressed, he explored the pop of bright color against dark background. His prolific body of work includes portraits, genre paintings, still life and landscapes.
8.75 x 6.5 inches framed; 7 x 5.25 inches canvas board.
Purchased from a Dealer in Hungary; Private collection United States.
Condition: Very good condition with a light amount of surface grime visible in the more thickly painted areas.
