The group of documents and photos  represents the political life of Nahum Dagani.

Dagani arrived in Israel in 1935, he later served in the RAF. During the Independence war, Dagani served with the Hagana and later was instrumental in founding the IAF.

In 1963 Dagani was sent to South America Where he was associated with the Israel Bonds. 

He later on, in 1967  became the South West Director of Z.O.A, Where he was  instrumental in influencing US policty. In the US he became close with Gerald Ford (while he was Senator and President)  and many other senators and people of influence.

in this lot there is correspondence ( among several) with President Gerald Ford (then congressman) there is talk of an incident where Arab terrorist's carjacked a train and took hostage Jewish Russian imigrants on their way to Israel. The terrorists conditioned their release on Austria shutting down a transit camp which was used for Russian jews to get to Israel. Dagani beseeches Ford to intervene and influence the Austrian government to not do so. Gerald ford in a signed letter ( Ford crossed our the formal "Mr Dagani" and in ink inserts Nahum, as he insisted he becalled)  assures Dagani that he is working closely with President Nixon to take a strong stance on the matter.

In this lot are letters from Senator John Tower  and Senator Henry M Jackson. Jackson speaks with Dagani of the pressing issue of Soviet Jewry.

There is also a signed letter directed to Dagani form Barbara Bush in honor of thanksgiving, Signed letter of gratitude from President Regan and Vice president Bush and many more letters. 

While Dagani was involved with Z.O.A he came in contact with many important people including celebrity Elizabeth Taylor who is featured in two original pictures smiling with one of her famous necklaces standing in front of  a photo of Herzl 

Amongst the two photo albums of Dagani and his time involved with Z.O.A there is a whole album of black and white photos which seemingly shows his time with the RAF. He can be seen in Egypt  at historical sites and spending time with fellow soldiers and local Arabs. Many photos show RAF planes. Some photos show a nazi war plane, a crashed ( enemy?) plane  and soldiers taking a photoshoot behind a swastika banner

There is also a black and white photo of the iconic image of the paratroopers at the wall.

The photos and correspondence with powerful US lawmakers and leaders , Photos with the most iconic Celebrities. and close warm tied he shared with them all, tell the story not only of  a Jewish leader at the beginging of the Jewish state; but also of the warm relationship and cosmic destiny the US and Israel have in common both then and now.
