ANCIENT OLMEC STONED IDOL PRE COLUMBIAN AMERICA
An ancient Olmec idol from Pre Columbian America carved of green colored stone, presumably jade. The sculpture depicts a male figurine with elongated eyes, hands resting above the knees across the body, and a relatively large open mouth. The eyes, nose, corners of the lips and ears have drillings, which are very characteristic of the works of artists of the Olmec civilization. Comes with a black stand. The Olmecs flourished during Mesoamericas formative period, dating roughly from as early as 1500 BCE to about 400 BCE. They were the first Mesoamerican civilization, and laid many of the foundations for the civilizations that followed. South American Collectibles, Home Decor.
