An antique Russian post card with a black and white photograph, depicting a studio portrait of Georg Karl Julius Hackenschmidt showing Worlds Championship Bell, Russian Lion, 1877 to 1968, Russian wrestler and weightlifter, writer and sports philosopher. European champion in wrestling in 1898, winner of the world weightlifting championships. He competed as a wrestler at the beginning of the 20th century and became the first recognized world heavyweight wrestling champion. Circa: early 20th century. Titled, upper left. Numbered, 374, lower right. The photograph not only captures the intensity and physicality of the sport but also serves as a striking piece of early 20th century Russian photographic art. Matted.
