Coques, Gonzales. «The astronomer and his wife». Кокс, Гонзалес. «Астроном и его жена», ок. 1633~1684гг.. Холст, масло, копия музейного уровня. Размер оригинала 40.5x54.6см., размер копии 58х79см. Музей изобразительного искусства Страсбурга.
Гонсалес Кокс - фламандский живописец 17 века, специализирующийся на одиночных и групповых портретах для богатых горожан Антверпена Особенностью его творчества являлось соединение группового портета с бытовым жанром. Мастерство художника заслужило ему прозвище “малый ван Дейк”.
На полотне “Астроном и его жена” мы видим богато убранную комнату, стены которой отделаны кордовской кожей. На большим столе, покрытым восточным ковром, стоит армиллярная сфера и другие астрономические инструменты. За столом сидит мужчина, показывающий своей жене астролябию.
