The holy Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac Cohen Katz (1753–1788), a renowned Kabbalist, was one of the most important disciples of the Maggid of Mezritch. He became widely known for his book Berit Kehunat Olam. At the age of maturity, he married the daughter of Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch Margolios, the Av Beit Din of Mezeritch. After the marriage, he became a close disciple of the Maggid, who held him in great esteem and honored him even when he was still a young man. At just 14 years old, Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac was appointed as the Av Beit Din of Karatz, where he established a yeshiva. In 1783, he became the rabbi of the Kloiz community in Ostroh. He passed away at the young age of 65. One of his prominent disciples was the gaon Rabbi Ephraim Zalmann Margolios, the author of Beit Ephraim and Mateh Ephraim.
