A recommendation letter from the esteemed Rabbi Dov Menachem Regensberg, zt"l, author of Minchat Menachem – an extremely rare item!

This letter, written by the great and distinguished Rabbi Dov Menachem Regensberg, Av Beit Din of Zambrow, recommends a shochet and bodek with great praise: "...and even those who are meticulous in their observance can eat from his slaughtering..."

In the introduction to Minchat Menachem (Modiin Illit, 5783), the author's descendants recount that Rabbi Dov Menachem was known to be extremely strict on matters of trefa and would even challenge the butchers of his city regarding their practices. Thus, a recommendation like the one before us for a "shochet and bodek" is exceedingly rare, as most applicants for certification would not choose to be examined by such a stringent rabbi.

It is also worth mentioning that Rabbi Dov Menachem's home, along with his books and writings, were destroyed in a fire during the Holocaust, making his manuscripts exceedingly rare.

Rabbi Dov Menachem Regensberg, zt"l, Av Beit Din of Zambrow and author of Minchat Menachem (born 1852 – died 1941), studied at the Yeshiva of Aishishok. In 1882, at the young age of 30, he was appointed as Av Beit Din in Zambrow, succeeding his father-in-law. He established a Yeshiva in his city and was renowned for his Torah teachings. His works include Minchat Menachem (on Halacha) and D'varim Menachem (on Drashot).

Good – Fair condition, with light tears and wear.
