1850s Edgefield South Carolina Dave Drake Stoney Bluff Jar
1850s Edgefield SC Dave Drake Stoney Bluff Jar that bears a striking glaze and form. This new discovery from an east Tennessee estate has all one would want in a Stoney Bluff site period jar. The jar's form is just outstanding with a glaze that is as good as one could ask for, with rich amber honey hues, and a light chocolate brown alkaline glaze with black specks through out. The classic lug handles point to Dave Drake along with one of my favorite features, his handprints at the base. This is one of the solid unique features that collectors and folks can gravitate to today by being able to get into touch with the master potter Dave Drake hands. The jar has four punctates along with two sets of different slash marks and the correct top grooved lug handles, that are Dave's traits in his lug lifter handles. This is a premium mid-level Dave jar and honestly one could argue a Top Shelf example. These examples are being bought up and not coming to market, objects are getting harder to find for market these days. Condition is great for age and use with two rim chips and one lug glaze flake. No hairlines and No Repairs. Fresh example from an east Tennessee estate. Folks, for this jar it's as good as it gets in my opinion. Don't let it get away. Standing 13 3/4" Tall
Condition: Condition is great for age and use with two rim chips and one lug glaze flake. No hairlines and No Repairs.
