Fine 1840s Dave Drake Edgefield, South Carolina One Gallon Jug that has all the classic traits of master potter Dave. The handle area, especially the thumb print at lower terminal base, and tooled rim collar, also the form and size, is just outstanding with a very nice earthy thick mature alkaline glaze with earthy green and brown tones. Condition, has a small chip in top tooled rim restored and partial handle restoration that are very well done and the color blending is outstanding. No chips, hairlines. This is a great example and will make a great addition in any Southern pottery collection. Fresh example. Standing 11" Tall
