HISTORIC WISCASSET, MAINE SAIL LOFT SIGN
The sign is from the original sail loft building on the harbor next to the rope walk, late 18th or early 19th century. The sign from the front of the building is shown on page 256 of the included book. Together with a photo of wiscasset showing the location where the sign was found and a copy of wiscassset in pownalborough. 16 inches high, approx. 158 inches wide, overall. The sign was discovered on the eat side when the adjacent building was demolished along with all the other waterfront buildings. The sign was acquired from the salvage company contracted to demolish the buildings.
