Antique 1881, with many earlier fabrics, William B Yeo Friendship Sampler or Album Quilt from Worcester County, MD. It measures 86x86". It is comprised of 36 blocks, 11x11", set straight, 6 by 6, with a 7" chintz border with herons/birds. It Is hand and machine pieced, hand and machine appliquéd, hand embroidered, hand inked, and hand quilted. There is thin cotton batting and off white cotton muslin reverse. The edge is finished with the front brought to the back, applied by hand. This Eastern shore Maryland signature quilts has 36 different blocks, some pieced and some appliquéd. Many of the blocks are hand inked with names. The quilt was purchased from the being estate along the eastern shore the family was involved with furniture stores. Names on the quilts include Yeo, Kemp, Kelly, Wilson, McQuay, Sneed, Austin, Bartlett, Holton, Scott, Williams, and Duncan. Some blocks and fabric appear to be earlier than 1881. It is in good condition with overall toning, small spots, 2 fabrics have minor deterioration, and there is some fading or color loss to the border print. If you have any doubt, please ask questions!
