Antique c1860 Double Irish Chain Quilt with a Leaf and Swag Border measures 91 x 92 inches. It is comprised of 64 blocks, 8 x 8 inches, set straight, 8 by 8 with 32 pieced checkerboard blocks and 32 alternating squares with appliquéd square corners. There is a 12.5 inch off white border with green swag and groups of 3 leaves on all 4 sides. It is hand pieced, hand appliquéd, and hand quilted. There is thin cotton batting and an off white cotton reverse the edge is finished with the back brought to the front and applied by hand, very narrow edge. It is in good condition with storage discoloration and a few spots. The Turkey red fabric print is intact. There is a nice variety of quilting motifs in this pieced including leaves, flowers, berries, baskets of flowers and more. If you have any doubt, please ask questions!
