Esteemed edition commented by Marcelo Caetano of this work that in the 17th century intended to defend Portugal's interests in Asian pocessions. Fr. Serafim de Freitas, born in Lisbon, studied at the Faculty of Canonical Jurisprudence of the University of Coimbra, where shortly after receiving his doctor's degree in 1595 he began to teach, later moving to the University of Valladolid, the city where he had this work printed.
