FIELD MARSHAL BERNARD LAW MONTGOMERY FROM SICILY
(1887-1976) British Field Marshal, he commanded the British Eighth Army during the Allied invasion of Sicily and the Allied invasion of Italy. Rare war-date signature from Sicily. Manuscript signed 'B.L. Montgomery General Eighth Army' dated August 30th, Eight Army Sicily, to the wife of a soldier '...Tell your son that his father is doing a fine job of work, and helping to bring nearer the day of final victory...' Mounted to cardboard with the envelope addressed to Mrs. Ivy Gibbs, Battersea, London. 8 x 10 inches overall.
