GEOFFREY KEYES
(1888-1967) Lieutenant General who commanded the II Corps during World War II. Keyes served under Mark Clark. Handwritten letter to his wife, two pages, 8 x 10.5 in., APO 403, Apr. 24, 1946, explaining that 3rd Army commander Lucius Truscott had gotten sick: 'I was told Truscott is sick...he will have to return to the US...and I am to be given command of 3d Army and that of course precludes my going home on leave...' signed 'Geoff.' Mailing folds, with signed ailing envelope.
