A MONUMENTAL MENOLOGICAL ICON FOR THE WHOLE YEAR WITH 45 IMAGES OF THE MOTHER OF GOD Central Russian, 19th century Tempera on wood panel with kovcheg. The saints and feasts commemorated in each month represented over four registers, the minute figures depicted in great detail with bright colours against a gold background. The border showing portraits of the Mother of God, holding Christ in a variety of poses. 71 x 57.5 cm.
