AN ICON SHOWING THE KAZANSKAYA MOTHER OF GOD WITH A SILVER-GILT AND CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL BASMA Russian, circa 1900 (icon), Russian, Moscow, Semen Matveevitch Egornov, 1896-1908 Oil on metal on a wood panel with velvet backing. Realistically painted. Half-length portrait of the Mother of God and Christ. Christ showing frontal and blessing on the left side of the Mother of God. The silver basma with foliage motifs. The border and the corners applied with enamelled (triangular) plaques. Marked with assayer’s mark, 84 standard and master’s mark ‘S.E’ in Cyrillic. Minimally restored. 30.6 x 26.3 cm.
