A SET OF TWO RUSSIAN PORCELAIN PLATES BY THE KORNILOV BROTHERS, CA. 1903

The set is comprised of two Russian porcelain dessert plates from the Kornilov Brothers factory in St. Petersburg, circa 1903. The borders of the plates are adorned with ornamentation after original illustrations by Ivan Bilibin (1876-1942) for the publication 'Russian Folk Tales', published by the Expedition for the Procurement of State Papers in 1901-1903. The pattern is applied to the plates using overglaze polychrome printing. The borders are decorated with gilding. Marked with overglaze printing manufacturer's stamp on verso.
