He developed teaching methods based on love rather than punishment, a method known as the Salesian Preventive System. Founder of the Salesians of Don Bosco. Canonized as a saint in 1934. Rare A.L.S., Sac. G. Bosco - Figliastro, one page, 8vo, Torino, 26th June 1877, to [Countess Callori], in Italian. On the printed stationery of the ''Oratorio di s. Franc. di Sales'', Bosco writes to his correspondent, addressing her `Mia Buona Mamma´ and confirms he will visit her that evening `With good appetite´. Further referring to his joy at having learned she is feeling better, `I pray God that He keeps you healthy for many long years and under his protection´. Some very light overall age wear, otherwise VG.
