SOLOGUB GRZEGORZ: (1918-1986) Polish fighter ace of World War II. A portion of a D.S., G Sologub, one page, slim oblong 8vo, n.p., n.d. (December 1941). The typed document, evidently clipped from a combat report, states, in part 'I was in middle Section led by Wing Commander Witorzenc and we turned to the right so as to attack from the Sun with the advantage of some 1000 feet in height. I saw an Enemy aircraft diving to attack our bombers and, getting on to its tail, I gave it a burst from 100 yards. The Enemy Aircraft went into a vertical dive, and disappeared into the cloud 6,000 feet below. I turned back to escort a Halifax Bomber flying with only the outer engines, and so was unable to follow further'.
