SCHNITZLER ARTHUR: (1862-1931) Austrian author and dramatist, remembered for his controversial and frank descriptions of sexuality. T.L.S., Arthur Schnitzler, in bold pencil, one page, 8vo, Vienna, 20th June 1931, to Miss. Georgette Boner, in German. Schnitzler thanks his correspondent for the programmes 'which are very skilfully written and do my little one-act plays a lot of credit', adding that the Berliner Tagblatt also made him happy, 'otherwise I didn't actually get to read very much about the performance', and further remarking 'In general, the French press does not seem to have taken too much notice of us. You might send me further reports that you think are worth reading. Needless to say, negative or malicious reviews are at least as interesting to me as friendly ones. But in any case, I hope to learn something from you personally about the further fate of my plays and would ask you in any case to send my heartfelt thanks and greetings to the performers, about whom I have read so many good things'. VG Georgette Boner (1903-1998) Swiss dramatist, painter and illustrator.
