Letter by Chaim Weizmann, the President of the Zionist Federation - London, 1935 - Letter in English with an addition of a Greeting in his Handwriting in Hebrew and his Hebrew and English Signature - Rare
Letter by the President of the Zionist Federation, Dr. Chaim Weizmann, to his friend, Mr. Braudo of Tel Aviv.
The letter is about transfer of funds by the "South Africans", sums which are "part of the current budget on which we had been definitely counting".
The letter is in English, typewritten and at its end, Weizmann's English signature.
On the margins, Weizmann added a handwritten greeting in Hebrew and signed his name in Hebrew. Most other letters by Weizmann as the president of the Zionist Federation are written and signed only in English. It is extremely rare to find a letter with a double signature in the two languages.
The letter is written on the official stationery of the "The Jewish Agency".

Chaim Azriel Weizmann (1874-1952) was a Zionist leader and Israeli statesman who served as President of the Zionist Federation and later as the first President of Israel. He was elected on 16 February 1949, and served until his death in 1952. Weizmann convinced the United States government to recognize the newly formed state of Israel.
Weizmann was also a biochemist who developed the acetone–butanol–ethanol fermentation process, which produces acetone through bacterial fermentation. His acetone production method was of great importance for the British war industry during World War I. He founded the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rechovot and was instrumental in the establishment of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
