1942-1944 Myanmar (Burma Japanese WWII Occupation) 10 Rupees "JIM" Note P# 16 Grades Select CU. Japanese invasion money, officially known as Southern Development Bank Notes (Japanese: ??????? Dai T?-A Sens? gunpy?, "Greater East Asia War military scrip"), was currency issued by the Japanese Military Authority as a replacement for local currency after the conquest of colonies and other states in World War II. Japan printed this currency for many countries, including Malaysia, Singapore, North Borneo, Sarawak, Burma, Brunei, and several Oceania territories controlled by Australia. Some Japanese invasion notes are actually counterfeits produced by the American Office of Strategic Services or the British Special Operations Executive, meant to flood and destabilize the economy in the occupied areas, sometimes also including propaganda printed on the notes themselves.
