Napoleon III Bronze Mounted Parquetry Inlaid Kingwood Bonheur du Jour
A Napoleon III Gilt Bronze Mounted Parquetry Inlaid Kingwood and Tulipwood Bonheur du Jour, Third Quarter 19th Century. The shaped top above a single frieze drawer, surmounted by a superstructure with porcelain mounted central prospect door flanked by four small drawers to either side and pierced gallery and small marble top above, all raised on cabriole legs. Rosewood drawer sides and rosewood veneered drawer bottoms.
Dimensions: Height 43in; width 39in; depth 23 3/4in.
Provenance: Property from a Local Collection.
Condition:
Structurally sound. Wear, toning and darkening to bronze mounts. Scattered small losses to veneers overall. The top left bronze drawer pull with a break and repair. Scattered pins to mounts are lacking throughout. The superstructure is surmounted by a later marble top hiding the unfinished surface where another section once was attached.
