L'opera risulta di notevole interesse in quanto realizzata da un pittore della cerchia o da un seguace di Jacopo Ligozzi da cui coglie il Cristo deposto, come dimostra l'incisione di Jan Muller (da Ligozzi) del 1595 ( https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/374020) . Tutte le altre figure e l'ambientazione sono dovute all'ignoto artista che ha dipinto questa interessante testimonianza seicentesca dell'influenza del Ligozzi nel panorama toscano e non solo.

The artwork is of considerable interest as it was created by a painter of the circle or by a follower of Jacopo Ligozzi from whom he takes the deposed Christ, as demonstrated by the engraving by Jan Muller (after Ligozzi) of 1595 (https://www. metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/374020). All the other figures and the setting are due to the unknown artist who painted this interesting 17th century testimony of Ligozzi's influence in the tuscan panorama and beyond.
