Rare and unique: letter written entirely by hand and signed by Rabbi Menachem Brody of Kalov. Mentioning the Admor Rabbi Yaakov Moshe of Komarna. 1915.
“for the honor of the Torah and the honor of our holy fathers” – a recommendation letter for the Admor Rabbi Yaakov Moshe of Komarna, written entirely by hand and signed by the Divrei Menachem of Kalov, addressed to Rabbi Chaim Brody of Prague.

“I was asked by the Rav of Komarna…since he is forced to leave Pest and wants to settle in your city, so he asked that I write for him some lines of recommendation…please do all in your power for his good, for the honor of the Torah and the honor of our holy fathers.”

Rabbi Menachem Brody of Kalov (1862-1938) was the son-in-law of the Admor Rabbi Meshulam Feisch Segal Levi, the first Admor of Tosh chassidus. He served as Rabbi in his father-in-law’s city, and then served as rabbi of Kalov, where he established a yeshiva gedolah where around 300 students learned at any one time. Over the years he had thousands of students, including great scholars. Students of his who survived the Shoah told of his holy practices, prayer, strength of Torah, and holiness. His student Rabbi Aryeh Leibush Gross wrote a long introduction in his book “Beer Menachem” in which he details stories from his rav.
