16th Century Book of Hours Illuminated Manuscript on Vellum
16th century N. France Saints Katherine, Margaret and Mary Magdalene Gold Leaf and Tempera on Vellum. Script written in a letter batarde in dark brown ink. Several initials on gold and on a ground of blue or burgundy with white tracery. Three saints are in images. Saint Katherine is seen in a landscape holding a sword and book, Saint Margaret, the patron saint od childbirth holding a cross and Saint Mary Magdalene is shown in landscape holding a ointment jar. Measuring approx 8" h x 5.75" w. Great color pigments as shown. All these from one collection and most bought from Mackus Company Illuminated manuscripts and Historical documents as shown in receipts. Good condition, see photos
