The author Rabbi Raphael ben Yehezkiel Zeisskind HaCohen Katz [1722-1803] was the rabbi of the communities of Altona, Hamburg, and Wandsbek, and was one of the important rabbis of his generation. He was known for his activities against the Maskilim in Germany. The last pages contain new interpretations on the Torah by the author’s son and son-in-law.
