Group of four hand painted European porcelain plaques depicting portraits of Jeanne Françoise Julie Adelaide Recamier and Grafin Sofia Potocka as well as a cherry picking woman and a group of figures in a garden. Each plaque housed within an ornate giltwood Rococo style frame. Included is one giltwood wall decoration in the form of a tied ribbon bow.
(Artworks) Sight; height ranges from 2 1/2 in to 5 1/4 in; width ranges from 2 in to 3 3/4 in. Framed; height ranges from 8 1/4 in to 10 1/2 in; width ranges from 6 1/2 in to 8 in. (Giltwood decoration) Height: 6 in x width: 10 in x depth: 2 in.
Condition: The plaques are in good condition with no visible cracks, dents, or losses. However, all frames have adhesive residue from restoration attempts; there are cracks and losses throughout each piece. The square frame of the blue plaque, captured upper far left, in the lot listing, has a loss to the gilt along the upper part of the frame; there is a restoration attempt along the left extreme edge; the plaque is not attached to the frame. The square frame with white plaque, captured upper center, has a loss to the right corner; by the loss, there is an adhesive residue visible, possibly a restoration attempt; below the plaque, there is a network of minute losses to the frame; there is another area with minute losses to the left side of the frame. The oval plaque, captured lower right, shows a restoration attempt along the top; there is a 1/8 inch long loss to the frame by the right of the plaque.
