Pair of Chinese Elm Wood Horseshoe Back Armchairs
Pair of Chinese elm wood horseshoe back armchairs, 19th century. Carved roundels along the back splat of each depict swirling dragons in low relief.
Provenance: The collection of Bruce Dayton and Ruth Stricker Dayton - Selections from The Marsh, Minnetonka, Minnesota.
Each, height: 38 in x width: 25 in x depth: 17 in.
Condition: The chairs are structurally sound and stable. There is a split to the seat of each chair. There is as split to the back splat along the carved medallion of one of the chairs, noted in the listing photographs. The corners have been reinforced with metal. Wear to the legs consistent with age and use. Light wear throughout the rest of the chair as expected.
