Priceless Treasure! Set of Slavita Machzorim - Shmuel Avraham Shapiro Press, Slavita 1832.
An original set of Machzorim printed in Slavita by R. Shmuel Avraham Shapiro, son of R. Moshe Shapiro. Slavuta, 1832. Volume one is the Machzor for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, and volume two is the Machzor for Shalosh Regalim.
Both volumes are printed on blue paper, bound in magnificent new leather bindings with gilt decoration.
Printed with the approbations of R. Chaim Rappaport of Ostroh and R. Ephraim of Sudlikow. R. Chaim Rappaport writes that the Slavuta imprints are "known throughout the world as the most beautiful books and are likewise free from errors, since the printers themselves [keep a watchful eye] during the printing process".
Slavuta imprints have long been favored by Chassidim and their Rebbes, and remain in high demand till today. They are often known to bring blessing into one’s household as they were printed with utmost Holiness and purity. In addition, they are well-known for their quality, black letterpress font - an uncommon printing feat in the early 19th century. During their prime, the Shapiro family press was cherished and respected by all, and was undoubtedly one of the leading Jewish printing presses throughout the Russian Empire.
Volume I: [2], 164 pp.
Volume II: [2], 152 pp.
Title page of volume one partly restored, with no loss to text (aside from one Russian word at bottom, replaced in facsimile). Otherwise both volumes are in excellent condition, with usual signs of wear.
