The Magician Bank
J. & E. Stevens Company Cromwell, Connecticut - Circa 1890's Provenance: Larry Feld Collection Virtually Mint Condition with Strong Flocking The Magician Bank is one of the most aesthetically pleasing toy banks ever designed. This is a function of its shape, which is essentially an isosceles triangle formed by the lower right and left edges of the steps and the top of the magician's head. This clever compositional device draws the viewer into the theatrical ambiance of intrigue that will shortly unfold before our eyes. Pennies placed on the magician's red table will disappear when the bank's lever is pressed firmly down. He lowers his top hat and covers the coin. He then incants a suitable "abracadabra" and when he lifts his hat, you will find that your coin has magically vanished. This particular bank represents one of the TOP 5 specimens of the Magician Bank in the world. It would feature as a marvelous condition upgrade for nearly every collector.
