Boiled Leather "Cuir Bouilli" Hat, 19th c.
Boiled leather or Cuir Bouilli hat made with heavy and thick leather featuring an old gunshot hole through the skull. Boiled leather saw use in many forms from caskets and hats to leather armour from the Medieval Period forward. The use throughout Europe naturally transitioned into use in the Americas. 11" L x 4 1/2" H
