ECKENER HUGO: (1868-1954) German Airship Designer, Commander of the Graf Zeppelin for most of its record-setting flights including the first airship flight around the world. Vintage signed postcard photograph of Eckener standing in a full length pose on the deck of a ship alongside an unidentified uniformed man, most likely the commander of the vessel. Signed ('Dr H. Eckener') by Eckener in dark fountain pen ink with his name alone to a clear area at the base of the image and also signed in bold blue fountain pen ink by the other individual. A further unidentified signature and greeting, in German, appears to the verso indicating that the photograph was signed during a voyage to New York from 28th April to 6th May 1938. About EX
