AN ITALIAN MVSN 1932 MUTILATI DAGGER BY FROSOLONE

This is a rare type made for presentation to MVSN members who were wounded while fighting for the cause. The hilt is a solid cast. The pommel features a leopard head turned to the left. The quillons are cast as eagles. The obverse features the ancient symbol of the Fasces. The reverse of the guard features the cipher of the Mutilati; a sword flanked by two bayonets over a wreath of laurel leaves. The grip is ribbed in the center. A steel scabbard retains the original bluing finish. The blade has a pronounced central ridge, double-edged with a pointy tip. The blade is stamped with the maker's mark "Frosolone". The crossguard is stamped with S/N 146.
