MANN HEINRICH: (1871-1950) German Novelist whose work Professor Unrat (1905) was adapted into the film The Blue Angel (1930) directed by Josef von Sternberg and starring Emil Jannings and Marlene Dietrich. T.L.S., Heinrich Mann, one page, 4to, Hollywood, California, 12th November 1940, to Dr. Frank Kingdon of the Emergency Rescue Committee, on the printed stationery of Warner Bros. Pictures Inc. Mann states that he was pleased to participate in a reception 'and thus to pay a little bit of the debt of gratitude I feel', further remarking 'From the few words I was able to speak, you will have noted how deeply I appreciate the activities of the Committee, and how much I admire the devotion of the Americans to the work of rescue'.
