SHRAPNEL-DAMAGED AMERICAN M1 HELMET
Shrapnel-damaged, post-World War II American M1 swivel bail helmet. The front of the helmet bears two holes undoubtedly caused by the entrance of metal shrapnel which traversed the helmet space, striking the opposite interior side of the helmet. No heat stamp present. The helmet bears a rear seam, produced post November, 1944. If worn at the time it was struck, the wearer would undoubtedly have been killed.
