A PAIR OF LITTLE VICTORY GARDEN PORCELAIN PLATES
Ð rare antique Little Victory Garden pair of plates by Walter R. Duff of Fondeville & Co., New York. The plates were produced during World War II and are referred to as an "Heirloom Plate." The center of the plate is inscribed with a message about the Little Victory Gardens. During WWII, people were encouraged to grow their own fruits and vegetables in victory gardens at home in order to support the war effort or supplement their rations. The images show various vegetables, a rabbit eating lettuce, a stag's head, a bluebird, and several cartoon caricatures.
