"Osei Chessed" Society. Jerusalem, [1890]. Signed by the Leaders of the Society. Rabbi Zvi Pesach Frank and others.
"Chevrat Osei Chessed" was a free-loan society founded in Jerusalem in [1887] for students of the Eitz Chaim Yeshiva.
The booklet is divided into two sections, and includes about 30 bylaws. The first section is in Hebrew, 8 pages. Followed by another 8 paged booklet with a Yiddish title page. 8, 8 pages.
This copy was used for a loan given to an avreich who studied at Eitz Chaim, R' Yisrael b"r Moshe Reifman of Kovno. Page 8 of the Hebrew section notes that he repaid his loan. Signed by Rabbi Zvi Pesach Frank. Efraim Zalman [?]. Zelig Leib bhr"t z"l [?]. Signed on the 1st of Kislev, [1901].
Rabbi Zvi Pesach Frank later served as Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem. He authored many works on all realms of the Torah. He was born in Kovno [1876] and immigrated to Eretz Yisrael on motzei Rosh Hashana [1892], when he was 17 years old. He signed this document when he was about 25 years old, but already a Rosh Yeshiva of Eitz Chaim. This is probably one of his earliest known signatures. The other signatories have not been identified. Refer to Sh. Halevi 728.
Not bound. Small tears in the blank margins. Fine condition.
