Darchei Noam. Responsa by Rabbi Mordechai HaLevi, Rabbi of Egypt. With the "Milchemet Mitzvah" kuntress by his son, Rabbi Avraham HaLevi, regarding the polemic surrounding the calculation of the day of circumcision. Venice, [1697]. Only edition.
Rabbi Mordechai Halevi (1600-1684) was the Rabbi of Egypt, and his son, Rabbi Avraham (1650-1704) took over his position and authored the "Ginat Veradim".
282, 41 leaves. 29 cm. Rare work. The National Library does not own a complete copy.
The title page verso features a large sketch of the Holy Temple. The title page bears the owner signature of Avraham Tiktin. The "Milchemet Mitzvah" has its own title page.
Rabbi Avraham Tiktin (1775-1821) was the rabbi of Glogau and then Breslau. He authored the "Petach HaBayit" on the Talmud (Dyhernfurth, 1820).
Old, shaky binding. Stains on the title page and a small hole. Fine condition.
The Judaica Jerusalem March 2002 catalogue featured a copy with an additional leaf with the sketch of the Holy Temple at the end of the book. That leaf is unknown and not listed biographically. It is not included in this copy.
