Krasauskas Stasis Algirdo (1929-1977)
Lithuanian Soviet graphic artist and teacher, winner of the USSR State prize (1976), people's artist of the Lithuanian SSR (1977). He was a close friend of the poet Robert Rozhdestvensky. Since 1959, he participated in exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad. More than 30 personal exhibitions were held in Moscow, Krakow, Sofia, Belgrade and Magdeburg. He created easel engravings and illustrations for literary works using various techniques (woodcut, lithography, linocut, etching). The works are characterized by metaphor, laconism and expression of white lines on a black background. Among the most famous works of Krasauskas is the linocut "Youth" (1961), used as the emblem of the magazine "Youth" ("round maiden face with wheat ears instead of hair"). The artist's works are in the collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Russian State museum, other museums and private collections in Russia and abroad.
