MARIA AMALIA OF NAPLES AND SICILIA: (1782-1866) Queen of France 1830-48 as spouse of King of the French Louis Philippe I. A.N.S., `Marie Amelie´, one page, 12mo, Claremont, 25th July 1848, in French. The Queen states `I kindly ask you Sirs, to please send the attached to the child by the liner of the 27th duly addressed to the correspondent´ Maria Amalia responds this way to a letter addressed to her, imploring her help for a distressed mother having given birth to a child. The letter attached, one page, folio, with an ink stamp acknowledging receipt by the Queen´s secretarial office on 12th May 1841, states in part `..she is in great distress. She has knowledge of the generosity of Your Majesty, and knows your willingness when it comes to helping unfortunates. She has great trust in you..´ To the upper left corner of her correspondent´s letter the Queen annotates in pencil `10fr´, as the amount to be sent. Small overall staining. G
