A Letter Sent by a Chovev Zion, the Philanthropist Rabbi Kalman Ze'ev Wissotzky, the Owner of the "Wissotzky" Tea Company, to Rabbi Shmuel Salant - 1892 - Extremely Rare!
In the letter to Rabbi Shmuel Salant, Rabbi Kalman Ze'ev Wissotzky sends money for charity and specifies to which charity institutions he wants the money to be donated and the sum he wants each of them to receive.
Kalman Ze'ev Wissotzky "The Russian King of Tea" as he was then titled, participated in the Katowice Conference (1884) and was chosen as a member of its management. In 1885, he visited the land of israel, calling Jews to settle in Arab cities. As a result of his call, Jews started settling in Lod, Nablus and Gaza. In his last will and testament, Wissottzky bequeathed his share in the Wissotzky Tea Company, a sum of 1million ruble, to charity.
