Ir Tehilla Brisk. Only Edition. Warsaw 1886.
Important historical work describing the Jewish community of Brisk, authored by R. Aryeh Leib
Feinstein.
This work consists of two parts; 1 – The history of the community, 2 – The present state of the community. Includes important records of the epitaphs on the gravestones of many of the previous Rabbonim of Brisk.
The Jewish community in Brisk dated back to as early as 1388, when it was the first community to be issued a permit to create a Jewish communal infrastructure (by Prince Witold of Lithuania). Renowned for its influential rabbinical leaders and scholars, it was one of the most prominent communities in Eastern Europe until the Holocaust.
