These Drashos were delivered in the Schaltmannsdorf and Kobersdorf communities between the years 1845 – 1862. ונדפסו בספרו דרשות הרא"ש
On the first page, there is a poem in which the first letter of each line spells out 'Avraham ben Rav Yehuda.'

Rabbi Avraham Shaag Zwebner (1801 - 1876) was a brilliant scholar and a prized disciple of the Chasam Sofer. He began to study under the Chasam Sofer at a young age and shared a special and close bond with him. The Chasam Sofer enjoyed recounting Rabbi Avraham's greatness and sharpness and publicly remarked, "…There is no greater Torah scholar than the Rabbi in Schaltmannsdorf." Rabbi Zalman Spitzer, son-in-law of the Chasam Sofer writes in his eulogy, "It was known that he was one of the greatest disciples of the Chasam Sofer… who would exalt him and loved him very much."
Rabbi Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld was a תלמיד מובהק of Rabbi Avraham Shaag and he followed him upon his immigration to Eretz Yisrael. Rabbi Yosef Chaim describes Rabbi Avraham's writings: "Holy words that emanate from a pure heart have always made a big impact to arouse complete repentance… to awaken the service of G-d and the observance of the Torah and mitzvos.
Rabbi Avraham Shaag's novellae and Drashos were published in Ohel Avraham and Drashos HaRash.
