Vyliams Petr Vladimirovich (1902, Moscow – 1947, Moscow).
theater artist, painter, drawer. Merited Artist of the RSFSR (1944). Studied at the V.N. Meshkov Studio (since 1909) and the VKhUTEMAS Higher School of Arts (1919-1924) under K.A. Korovin, I.I. Mashkov, V.V. Kandinsky, D.P. Schterenberg and others. Took active part in creation of the Experimental Museum of Painting Culture. Member of OST in 1925-1930. Professor of the Moscow Institute of Applied and Decorative Art (since 1947). Initially was majoring on easel painting and illustrating of children books. Since 1929 started working as a theater artist. In 1941-1947 – Chief Artist of the Bolshoi Theater. The appeal to the technique of easel painting and the use of decorative back panel is peculiar for the works of the first half of 1930th. Subsequently was keen for the creation of the illusory scene image. Reiterated Laureate of the USSR State Premiums for the works at the theater: in 1943 for the ‘Wilghelm Tell’ Rossini (1942), 1946 – ‘Cinderella’ (1945), 1947 – for staging of ‘Romeo and Juliet’, S.S. Prokofiev at the Bolshoi Theater (1946). Designed as well ‘Ivan Susanin’ Glinka (1939, 19450 and ‘The last says of Pushkin’, Bulgakov (1943) at the Moscow Art Academic Theater (MHAT). The works of the Artist are kept at the State Tretiakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum and other museums
