Krylov Porfirii Nikitich (1902, the Tula Province – 1990, Moscow).
(KUKRYNIKSY) Full member of the USSR Academy of Arts. People’s Artist of the USSR. In 1927 graduated from VHUTEIN (The Higher Artistic and Technical Institute), studied under A.A. Osmerkin, A.V. Shevchenko, А.P. Konchalovsky. Together with the artists M.V. Kupriyanov and N.A. Sokolov (Kukryniksy) worked in the sphere of political and everyday life satire, political placards, book illustrations and thematic compositions. He also worked autonomously as a painter in the sphere of portraits, landscapes and still life pictures. He was awarded the Lenin Prize, six USSR State Prizes, the RSFSR State Prize named after I.E. Repin. In 1947- 1949 he was a member of the Presidium of the USSR Academy of Arts. Works by the artist are kept in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, the State Museum named after N.P. Krylov in Tula. The self-portrait of the artist has been in the Ufizzi Gallery (Florence) since 1983.
