Vesnin Alexander Alexandrovich (1883-1959)

Russian and Soviet architect, theater artist and teacher. Honorary member of the USSR Academy of Construction and Architecture (1956), professor. One of the Vesnin brothers. In 1901 he graduated from the Moscow Practical Academy of Commercial Sciences and began studying at the St. Petersburg Institute of Civil Engineers. In 1904, in the fourth year, they interrupted their studies at the institute for several years. He worked as an assistant to architects, participated in architectural competitions and studied in private art studios (K. F. Yuon, I. O. Dudin, V. E. Tatlin, etc.). From 1919 to 1925 designed the performances: - "Moscow Chamber Theater - "Phaedra" (staged by A. Ya. Tairov, 1922); "The Man Who Was Thursday" by G. K. Chesterton staged by S. D. Krzhizhanovsky (1923) and "The Annunciation" P. Claudel (1920). ", "Maly Theater - (The Inspector General (production by I. S. Platon, premiered on September 24, 1919).
