Sefer HaTikunim. Tikunei HaZohar. Belgrade 1851. Magnificent, Splendid Copy.

Attributed to the Rashbi. Complete copy in two volumes. Original, magnificent bindings.

Tikunei HaZohar is a Kabbalistic composition that is considered a separated entity to the Zohar. It was written in Aramaic and compiled of Midrashic explanations on Genesis.

The book was first printed in Mantua in 1558. It consists of many esoteric Kabbalah concepts including seventy commentaries according to Kabbala on the opening word of the Torah. It is attributed in most part to Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai and his Torah study partners.

There is a custom to study Tikunei Zohar during the month of Elul through and including the High Holy Days. Kabbalists and many Hassidic books consider study of Tikunei Zohar as soul and body-cleansing and purifying. Furthermore, this period which is referred to as ‘Days of Repentance’, is an optimal time for rectifying our deeds. Many Hassidic communities promote this custom and disseminate copies of Tikunei HaTikunim for this purpose.

Original leather bindings, with stunning embossing, and gilt border. The owner, Aaron Tsuriano’s stamp is imprinted on the binding.

At the front of the book, there is a mention of the book’s ownership from 1939 By Israel Slutzkin, He mentions Rabbi Surnaga of Jerusalem, from whom he purchased the book.
