Talmud Bavli Tractate Kiddushin. Cracow 1604. Signature, Glosses and Important Corrections.
A most rare edition of Tractate Kiddushin. Jewish books printed in Cracow are in general exceedingly rare, as most were burnt and destroyed during Polish pogroms and unrest.
Tractate Kiddushin was one of the most popular tractates studied by Torah scholars. Most copies were heavily used and thus not well-maintained or preserved. It is of little surprise therefore, that this edition of Tractate Kiddushin is not to be found iמ libraries.
To the best of our knowledge, and according to various bibliographies, there exists only one other copy. A photographed version of it may be found in the National Library of Israel.
Cracow 1604. Isaac Prostitz.
82, [1], 98, 83-84, 87-96 leaves. 31 cm.
Good to average condition. Interesting signature on title page. Many handwritten glosses and amendments appear within the book. Year-old restoration with some damage to text on two last pages. Beautiful, new binding.
